The Bourbon Mafia Private Selections

The Bourbon Mafia is very fortunate to take in part barrel selection programs with various Distilleries.

Angel's Envy

This was our group's first private pick. Several members selected this blend at Haymarket Whiskey bar in Louisville. The group tasted five different blends, created by Kyle Henderson, and then chose the best blend.

Four Roses Single Barrel

OESF

For this selection, our group went with a 9yr 7mo OESF, out of Warehouse AN 14-2D. It was a difficult decision, but felt it was the best out of the 10 recipes.

This was Jim Rutledge's last private selections as Master Distiller of Four Roses. He retired days after our pick.

OESK

This was the first opportunity for our group to work with Brent Elliot, who replaced Jim Rutledge as Four Roses Master Distiller. Our selection process was a tough one, but in the end, a 9yr 3 month OESK Warehouse QS 51-4K was chosen.

OESF

The group picked this barrel in January 2018, and out of the ones Four Roses presented, the OESF stood out the most. It's a 9yr that was housed in warehouse KE.

OBSV

On the same day that we picked the OESF, we were able to purchase a barrel of OBSV with Justin's House of Bourbon, and would be proofed to 100, instead of barrel strength. We were very excited to given this opportunity.

Maker's Mark Private Selections

Maker's Mark Private Selection - Batch #1

This pick hit close to home for many of the Mafia members. Several have a background with Maker’s Mark, either from collecting, to knowing the Samuel’s personally. Maker’s rolled out the “Red Carpet” for our group, and was truly a great experience.

Wild Turkey Russell's Reserve Single Barrel

Some of the members enjoyed spending the day with Eddie Russell, of Wild Turkey, to pick a fabulous single barrel Russell’s Reserve. Eddie selected some terrific barrels for us to choose from, which allowed us to select a great bourbon.
